2021’s theme was “Change Begins With You” and we virtually welcomed 70 students from around the country. We focused on empowering teens with the tools and confidence to get involved in causes important to them. Here are some of the highlights:
Corinne Tagliarina, director of the Human Rights Advocacy program at Utica College, shared her research on the Human Right to Water.
We were joined by Jack Einstein, founder of the I AM Human Project, who discussed supporting LGBTQ+ students in schools.
We welcomed back Educator, organizer and auntie, Cidra M. Sebastien who explored the role of youth activism throughout US history.
Educator Preya Krishna-Kennedy led a session on understanding race and racism.
Samira Sangare, a poet and social justice activist, led participants in a poetry writing workshop.
We were excited to welcome back Rory Gerberg, a nationally recognized expert in gender equity.
And we learned about how to amplify our voice and impact our community with the Capital District Writing Project.
